A day for clearing my head…

It’s been beautiful and sunny, how refreshing this makes me feel. I’ve needed some time to gather my thoughts, it’s been two years since my dear Mum passed away and joined Dad. It’s comforting to know they are together and although it doesn’t get any easier we manage in our own way and the support of wonderful friends is such a comfort. Mum and Dad both loved the Spring like days that we have been having recently.

When grief surfaces I allow myself this time to be kind to myself and don’t beat myself up for feeling quite blah. It passes while I just allow myself to be comforted by memories and the simple things that bring me pleasure. This is often something quite simply like sitting in the warmth of the garden and enjoying a cuppa. My Mum use to say if we don’t look after ourselves no one else will. How true this is, yes we have family and friends but ultimately we are responsible for looking after ourselves and our well being. So I tell myself at times of challenge and difficulty I have to be kind to myself.

This was very much needed as last week I pretty much lived out of a suitcase, a trip to catch up with friends and visit the NEC for the Stitches show then teaming up with SamanthaK to demo at the Farnborough show.

Lat weeks craft class was postponed as my lovely ladies insisted I paced myself so I am looking forward to catching up with them again tomorrow. Once home from my travels I caught up with house stuff and looked at my “To Do” list then it was time to prep and plan for my next classes and crafty jobs.

Today I cleared the decks, tidied my workspace, tidying is always a good tonic and then I was ready to carry on with my “To Do” list.

I enjoyed making the samples for tomorrow’s class, crafting as always is my therapy. On the subject of this a lovely package arrived from one of the magazine companies I had met at the NEC. It was perfect timing for a copy of Project Calm to arrive and the front cover summed up the recent days for me “Time to reflect” This fabulous magazine is published by Immediate Media and I was so excited to receive it.

For this weeks class samples I set the theme of one stamp used 3 ways, the stamp I chose is this gorgeous Butterfly Botanical from Woodware, some of my most favourite stamps. I chose bright, beautiful colours which are so cheerful.

I look forward very much to reading the issue Project Calm and felt very happy with the arrival of the lovely package I had been sent, fate stepped in and also made me feel very contented…Thank you Immediate Media for such perfect timing…
